Riveal - A Reagentless Contrast Technique

Riveal Contrast is a patented system that allows live cells to be observed in real time with unmatched resolution and contrast without the need for exogenous staining compounds. Driven by powerful image capture and analysis software this technique provides structural information in a context not possible with current brightfield or fluorescence techniques.

This video shows a monolayer of goldfish keratocyte cells which have been grown onto a glass coverslip. In addition to the monolayer, goblet cells (which secrete mucin) as well as leukocytes (which help fight infection) are also clearly visible using Riveal's reagentless imaging mode.

Riveal contrast is a complete microscope workstation which utilizes oblique illumination and patented software algorithms to produce optimized full-colour images of your unstained specimens. In addition, this modular system can be configured for routine widefield fluorescence and/or advanced structured illumination techniques. Options include a wide array of objective lenses and incubation/perfusion chambers for extended observations of live cells.
